In partnership with our contractor Veolia we’ve recently launched a campaign to prevent cardboard recycling from going to waste.
We accept cardboard at all 14 of our Household Waste Recycling Centres and it’s one of the most used containers. However, there are two issues that may end up with the material not being recycled:
– Dirty and stained cardboard
– Non-cardboard inserts
Clean cardboard is easily recycled – however, cardboard with stains such as grease, food, paint and dirt cannot be recycled.
Likewise, cardboard boxes full of packing tape, polystyrene, bubble wrap won’t be suitable for recycling.
We don’t want people’s recycling efforts to be wasted. This is why we are asking members of the public to make sure their cardboard is clean, to remove any contents and to flatten boxes before being brought to their Recycling Centre.
