INTERNATIONAL COMPOST AWARENESS WEEK 2018 – SPECIAL OFFER! (3rd May 2018)

As part of International Compost Awareness Week 2018, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority is encouraging more residents to get composting with a fantastic offer promoted in partnership with www.getcomposting.com.

Residents can purchase discounted compost converters from as little as £17.98 and with the fantastic “Buy One Get One Half Price” offer, residents can purchase a second compost converter from only £8.99, a massive saving! As well as compost bins, you will also find food waste digesters and hot composters allowing you to compost all of your household food waste!

The Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) estimates that the use of a home compost bin diverts approximately 150 kilogrammes of waste per household away from landfill sites each year, so isn’t it about time you gave composting a go? It is simple to do and once you get started, you will be surprised at just how much daily household waste can be recycled. It’s also a cheaper alternative to chargeable garden waste collections and has the added benefit of producing a FREE supply of top quality compost which has multiple uses including as a soil improver, mulch or plant feed and helps your garden retain moisture.

More than 30% of the average household waste can be composted and although many households already compost at home, we want others to get involved. This is a great incentive to encourage more residents to get composting and set up their own composting communities sharing the rewards. Home composting organic waste also helps to significantly reduce carbon emissions and can also be used as an effective and sustainable waste management method to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

There are a range of compost bins and accessories available to suit new recruits and seasoned gardeners alike. For full details or to order visit www.getcomposting.com, or call 0844 571 4444.

The buy one get one half price offer is available on selected products. A one-off delivery charge of £5.99 applies.

Local recycling officers are encouraging Merseyside residents to get composting for International Compost Awareness Week (3rd to 9th May).

The partnership of Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority and www.getcomposting.com is offering discounted home composters from as little as £17.98, and with a “Buy One Get One Half Price” offer residents can purchase a second compost converter from only £8.99 (RRP £39).

Home composting can reduce the amount of organic kitchen waste that goes into your household bin and has the added benefit of producing a free supply of top quality compost that will not only improve the quality of home grown fruit and vegetables but also increase their yield.

So if you’re not composting already, now is the time to get started!

Carl Beer, Chief Executive of MRWA, said: “Almost half of the waste in the average Wirral household bin can be composted and although many households already compost at home, we want others to get involved. This is a great incentive to encourage more residents to get composting and share the rewards. Home composting organic waste, paper and cardboard also helps to significantly reduce carbon emissions and can also be used as an effective and sustainable waste management method to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.”
